Walk through any office in summer and you can tell within a minute whether the water is looked after. Either there is a clean dispenser with a full jar, or there is an empty jar, a scramble and someone sending a late message to the supplier.
Why it matters more than you think
People drink more when water is easy to reach. Lack of water shows up as tiredness, headaches and poor focus in the afternoon, which are exactly the things managers want to avoid. A cool, clean glass is a small courtesy that staff and visitors notice.
How many jars does an office need?
A reasonable starting point is one 18 litre jar for every eight to ten people per working week, rising in the hot months. Offices with meeting rooms and frequent visitors will use more. Track your usage for two weeks and adjust. It is better to order slightly too much than to run dry.
Keep the dispenser clean
- Wipe the neck of the jar before you flip it onto the dispenser.
- Wash the dispenser's drip tray and tap area every week.
- Give the reservoir a proper clean at least once a month, following the maker's instructions.
- Do not let staff touch the tap's tip with cups or bottles.
- Replace a jar that arrives with a damaged seal.
For meetings and visitors
Keep 200ml or 500ml bottles in the meeting room. They look neat, they avoid shared glasses, and unopened bottles can be used later. Our size guide will help you mix jars and bottles sensibly.
